Mercy’s open house is not the only thing that is going on in Cincinnati today. Lauren Hill is also playing her first and last college basketball game.
I’m sure that most of you know Lauren’s story but for those of you who don’t, here is a brief summary.
Lauren was playing with her future teammates at Mount Saint Joseph University when she was unable to keep up with the other girls. Lauren then experienced things like vertigo that lead her family to take Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. A brain tumor, that was inoperable, was discovered by an MRI.
Her story began to spread and soon all of Cincinnati was touched by her courageous outlook on her disease. The NCAA allowed for MSJ’s first game to be moved up to this weekend so that Lauren is able to live out her dream of playing one college basketball game.
Lauren’s story has inspired many across the country including many different college teams and professional athletes. There was such an outpouring of support from around the city that the game was moved to the Cintas Center so more people are able to attend. We wish Lauren luck as she plays her first college basketball at 2p.m.
