Canned Food Drive

Becca Rhein ’15

Just like every year, Mercy kicked off their Canned Food Drive and continues it through Thanksgiving Break. This year, however there is a new twist…

When a student turns in 10 canned goods, they get a “Flat Francis”. Students carry these Flat Francis’ around for the remainder of the drive. If they are stopped by the “Pope-arazzi”, they receive a ticket for a special treat. In the Campus Ministry office, there is Popecorn, Pope Tarts, and Ring Popes to choose from.

There are also challenges throughout the week. There was already a French vs Spanish competition, with Spanish coming out victorious. There was also a Fall Sports competition. Cross Country won that race with ease. Coming up there is an all school competition.

The Canned Food Drive wraps up on the 25th. After school, students are going to Mercy Neighborhood Ministries to deliver the canned goods and stock the shelves. Until then, students continue to bring goods into homeroom daily.
