On November 20th, Miss Kron’s Engineering class went to U.C. for a Women in Engineering program. Girls from Mount Notre Dame joined us for the day. We started with getting into groups with MND and Mercy girls and talking about what we wanted to be when we grew up when we were little and what we actually want to be now. Some of the different things people wanted to be when they were little were teachers, doctors, and one girl wanted to be a construction worker when she was little. After that, they had different students come talk to us and we could ask them any questions we had about engineering, the different fields of engineering, and how it was to be a woman engineering student. We then got with our groups and had to do a project. We were given a box of spaghetti, a roll of tape, and marshmallows. The goal was to build the tallest tower in 20 minutes. After that, we took a tour of the engineering college of U.C. and we got to meet with the different professors of the different fields of engineering. It was a very cool experience and I learned a lot!
