The end of January does not only mean the end of the holiday season, but also the end of basketball season. It is hard to believe that all the work that has been put in since October has already come to an end. When tryouts came around at the end of October I remember the amount of nerves I had leading up to being told what team I made. Coach Beck told me I made JV and I was really excited because I worked really hard and this meant that I would be able to play with the team that I played with over the summer again.
Our season started off a little rocky. We won our first game against Anderson 47-22, but we lost our next four games. This brought in losses to Ursuline, McAuley, Alter and MND. Though after our loss to MND we worked hard and came back to win the next 14 out of our last 15 games. Some of our biggest victories were against Ursuline, 53-41, McAuley, 39-20 and MND, 40-29. In 11 of our 20 games we kept our opponents under 30 points with our intense defense. We finished 2nd in the GGCL and gave Ursuline its only loss in the league.
Our season is a prime example of how when things do not start as well as planned that it is always possible to finish the season strong. Now were excited to watch the Varsity make a statement in the end of the year tournament!
