Running for Trustee

My grandpa, Pete Rebold, is running for Green Township Trustee as an independent. Usually people have no idea what a Trustee is, but it’s basically a mayor except there’s three Trustees working together. My grandpa was elected to be a trustee in 1973, 1985, and 1989. He was also the Green Township Attorney from 1981-1985.
My grandpa’s love for government is what drove him to run for office again. The opponent he is running against was appointed after another trustee quit last term and he was going to run unopposed. My grandpa believes that the people should choose who to elect to office.
Having a family member running for office is a unique experience, there are signs around town and we get t-shirts. My grandpa also has big magnets on his and my grandma’s cars. The most surprising thing for me is that my 72-year-old grandpa has a Facebook account. His business partner helped him post some pictures of him doing service  in the community. However, my grandma still doesn’t have a profile picture even though her husband is a “social media whiz.”
It’s great to see my grandpa go for something he loves to do and believes in. My grandpa might need help with social media, but I know he won’t need any help being a great Trustee!
