Top 10 Costumes for Saturday, October 31st

By Elena Harter ’17

As the end of September rolls around, leaves begin to fall and people break open the Halloween decorations. Blow up pumpkins, ghosts, and witches cover front yards, blocking viewers from even seeing their front door. Creepy, haunted characters hang from trees and peek out from windows.

Not only is everyone preparing to make their house the best decorated house on the street, but the kids and teens inside prepare to make their costume this year one to remember. If you’re stumped, or just don’t have enough time to plan out your costumes this Halloween, here’s a few ideas and last minute costumes to help you out.

Mean Girls:

You can’t go throughout Halloween without seeing at least ONE Mean Girls costume. I have to give these girls props though… They nailed this costume.

Olympic Gold Medalists:

This idea is super creative and easy to do with all of your friends! Stop at Target to find some wonderful leotards to wear and you can find cheap plastic medals at Kroger or some convenience store to tie your entire outfit together.

Mary Poppins:

You never would’ve thought that reliving one of your favorite childhood movies for Halloween would be so easy. All you have to find is a white long sleeve shirt and a black skirt to make the outfit. Don’t forget the black umbrella to tie it all together! Note: She is not flying… The person taking this picture is really good at taking shots of people jumping.

The Hunger Games:

Why not get a group of friends together and be the famous characters from The Hunger Games? All you need is some jeans or black pants and a leather jacket that makes you feel really intimidating and you’ve got it.

The Miss’:

Just a gals night on Halloween? No big deal. Find some cheap and colorful pageantry dresses and make some sashes to show everyone you have the best costume, because you’re Miss America.

Don’t have time to get into your Halloween costume this year? No problem. I’ve got you covered for that too.

Grapes:

Every year I see someone wearing a grape costume and one year that was so close to being me. However, this Halloween, it could be you! All you’ll need is a purple shirt, some green leggings/tights, tape/glue, and purple balloons. That’s it. You’re good to go.

Runaway Bride:

You can go at this Runaway Bride costume one of two ways. You can find a white dress and wear running shoes under it, and be super clever and pin a marathon number to the front of you. Or, you can dress in typical running clothes, with the marathon number pinned to you, while wearing a wedding vail on your head. Either way, people will get what you are right off the bat!

Pig in a Blanket:

This one is so easy, my dog may be this for Halloween. Imagine a dog as a pig in a blanket. How adorable. For this all you’ll need is a plastic pig nose to strap to your face and wrap yourself tightly in a blanket. And ta-da! You’re a pig in a blanket!

Road:

I saw this and just had to include it… You can be a road for Halloween. Dress in all black and have white dashes of duck tape down your shirt. All done! Easiest. Halloween costume. Ever.

Ceiling Fan:
