Was this year’s Father Daughter Dance a night to remember? As a senior I expected the dance to be memorable. The only thing memorable about the dance was how terrible the music was. T-Bird; a well known dj who plays at Three Rivers Swim Club on summer nights for 7th and 8th graders was our dj at a high school Father Daughter Dance. He was trying to please the fathers by playing 80’s rock music, which wasn’t in any of the girl’s likings. My dad even said that “I appreciate him trying to include the dads with Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, but none of the girls really liked that music, its about the girls and what they like.”
Also playing multiple songs from the 2000’s was a total buzzkill. You can’t forget about your typical line dancing songs! The Cupid Shuffle, Cotton Eyed Joe, and the Cha Cha Slide made an appearance as well. Only two songs made the girls go wild, the songs were Hit The Quan, and Hollaback Girl. After those songs were over, you could feel the energy in the room go down a few levels.
I hope for future Father Daughter Dances, the dj plays more up-to-date songs for both the girls and their fathers to enjoy.
