Zayn Malik a former singer in the teen pop band One Direction, just released his new single Pillow Talk on January 28th. This is the first step towards his solo career. Although he tells his fans that his resignation from the group is for time out of the spotlight, he still releases his own number on hit.
“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologize to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
~ Zyan Malik
He was discovered on The X Factor, a popular television show in Britain, where he met his ex-band mates: Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. One Direction had been together since 2011 when they released their first hit What Makes You Beautiful, which topped the charts in the UK. Not long after, began climbing the charts in the U.S. Now they have taken their own paths and chosen to continue as a musical group without Zayn.
The separation of the band has touched the hearts of many fans across the world. Zayn himself is from Bradford, England, but the other members of One Direction are from areas across Europe. The English-Irish group has fans in numerous countries as we discovered during their world tour in 2014, which became the 12th highest productive concert tour of all time.
Many consider Zayn to be the bad boy of the group, which is truly revealed when he choses to leave his friends and band mates behind. His bad boy image is evident both his recent appearances and in the past. Zayn was know from dying his hair, getting multiple tattoos, and breaking off an engagement with Perrie Edwards, a singer with the group Little Mix.
“I like to use the term ‘misunderstood.’ But I am a bit of a bad boy. I have tattoos and I mess around. That’s part of my image, so it’s cool.”

This definitely gave Zayn the bad boy edge he was going for, in his music video Pillow Talk. His new song seems to be pleasant surprise. Pillow Talk topped the charts in the UK not long after its release.
I high recommend giving this single a listen. Who knows you might find yourself falling in love with the intimate voice of Zayn Malik. You can purchase his song in the iTunes store for $1.29.
