Do you ever want to try something new with your makeup? I do this every time I use my same boring, old makeup routine. Lately I’ve been really into learning new makeup tips and watching tutorial videos. I have several routines I use when I put on makeup. I am going to share some of my routines and also give you some tips I have found out!
Skin: One main thing with makeup is to keep your skin fresh and clean. It is always important to take your makeup off after a long day before you go to bed. It’s also really good to use a face wash or cream everyday. I use Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Face Wash and it works really well!
For makeup for the skin, I use a cream concealer with powder foundation on top of it. My favorite brand for foundation is CoverGirl. It not very pricey and it works awesome!
If you are ever on social media, you have probably heard about contouring. “Contouring is giving shape to an area of the face and enhancing the facial structure through makeup,” says Beau Nelson, Kristen Stewart’s makeup artist. Contouring can make you look like you are about to walk the run way or pose for a photo shoot, which is what it originally used for! There are many contouring tutorial videos on YouTube, which can really help you out. The main thing to remember is where to highlight with lighter makeup and where to contour with darker makeup. Also don’t forget to blend it all together so it looks natural!
Eyes: How much eye makeup you use typically depends on the person. Personally, I use a bronze/gold smoky eye if I’m going out, with a thin layer of eyeliner, and voluminous mascara. A smoky eye can really make your eyes seem bigger and brighter. It puts a lot of attention onto the eyes and makes them pop!
Lips: Everyone has their own style for their lips. Some like just a Chap Stick but others like lip-gloss or lipstick. It usually depends for me. If you are just going out for a casual night, Chap Stick or lip-gloss is probably the way to go. Lip-gloss is better if you want more attention towards your eyes as opposed to your lips. If you are going out somewhere more fancy or fun, lipstick is always a good option. Whether you go for a red or nude, the full-coverage effect is guaranteed with lipstick.
Brows: I’ve never really paid any attention to my eyebrows, but as I got older I realized that girls really do care what their eyebrows look like. There are many ways to fill in and shape you eyebrows. My eyebrows are pretty thin so I use “eyebrow mascara.” Eyebrow mascara is basically just a mascara brush in the color of your brows that you use to fill in your brows. Another option is an eyebrow pencil. This is a little harder but can be used to shape and fill in your eyebrows.
I hope this blog helps you take your makeup to the next level! It’s always fun to try something new and experiment with makeup, so give it a shot!
