This year’s sophomore service project is coming to an end. What better way to wrap up the year of service learning than a celebration!?
Each sophomore joined a committee in our final MLC together. Each committee helped with numerous final chores that needed to be completed. Some things included writing thank you cards, others made a mural of our service artwork, and some girls designed a giant Mercy “M” to give as a gift to each organization we went to in Over the Rhine.
I was given the opportunity to make our end of the year video along with my other classmates: Cecilia Feldman, Hannah Gellenbeck, Leslie Daria, Holly Hilvert, and more! I had a lot of fun racing around to each group of girls and interviewing them. My favorite part of the whole experience was hearing some really cool stories each student had to share from their trip.
I am so proud of my sophomore class and how much we have grown together since the beginning of this year. The perspective of each student has definitely increased through the retreat.
Towards the beginning of the year we were each given our own random service quote to motivate and guide us through our service learning. I still remember mine was a famous quote from Gandhi; he said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
