Upcoming Movies: Summer 2016

Elizabeth Davis ’19

With summer fast approaching, many people are looking to plan outdoor activities meant to experience the warm summer atmosphere. Allow me to be completely unhelpful with that, and instead give you an indoor activity suggestion: upcoming movie suggestions for 2016.

Hitting theaters on June 3rd, is the movie adaptation of “Me Before You” (novel by JoJo Moyes.)I would recommend bringing some tissues for this movie. I have yet to read the book, but I have heard nothing but good (and sad) things about it. It follows the story of Will Traynor and his care-taker Louisa Clark. Sam Claflin (who also played Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games Movies) will be playing Will in the movie, if that is any incentive to go see it. A Hunger Games fan comments, “ I am very excited to see him on the big screen again.”

Following that on June 10, is “Now You See Me 2.” As a fan of “Now You See Me,” I am eagerly anticipating the second adaptation. I look forward to continuing the journey of our four magicians. If you enjoy comedy, or are curious about what goes on behind the scenes at a magic show, you should definitely go see it.

To put a close on the month of June we have a VERY anticipated movie, “Finding Dory.” It has been thirteen years since the first film, “Finding Nemo,” and on June 17 we will finally have the long awaited sequel following the character of Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres. In this film, Dory goes on an adventure to find her family. Freshman Rose Homoelle shares her thoughts on the upcoming film. “‘Finding Nemo was a big part of my childhood. I am very excited for Dory to get her chance in the spotlight because as a kid she was my favorite character.”
